IMPORTANT DOCUMENTS FOR REGISTRATION

1. Admission Letter

Do I need to explain what admission letter is? Anyways, it's a letter that guarantees your admission. It majorly comprises three important pages. One page showing EFCC warning and campaign against Examination malpractice. Another page showing Admission Letter for Individual and the third showing Admission Letter for Institution.

You're only to Print the Admission Letter for individual and Institution, forget the EFCC page.

2. Original UTME result (For UTME candidates only)

Some of you thought original UTME result is the result you printed out when your UTME result was released.

The Original UTME result is colored. It has details of the order in which you chose your preferred institutions and also contain your passport photograph

3. Birth Certificate/Affidavit for Age Declaration.

If you don't have your birth certificate, go and swear an Affidavit to declare your age. Birth certificate can be obtained from the hospital, NPC office in any LGA while Affidavit can be sworn in any court in the nearest LGA to you.

NB; the names and date of birth on your Birth Certificate must correspond to that which you have on all other documents you'll be presenting. If the name or date of birth on your WAEC certificate is different from what you have on your JAMB slip, the details on Birth cert doesn't correspond to what you have on Jamb result or their is an error in your name spelling, you want to see crazy.

If the name on WAEC is Robinson Simon Iseoluwa and the one on JAMB is Robinson Simon. The two documents will be assumed to belong to two different people. Hence, there will be an issue. These are some of the errors students eventually have when they come for registration and it causes delay and stress in the registration processes. I'm highlighting all these so you can do the needful if you fall in any of these categories.

The names arrangement must be the same, no spelling errors on all your documents. The date of birth must also be the same.

Now, if you notice error in any of the documents, depending on which one, there are steps you should take.

1. If there's any error in your WAEC certificate. Maybe name arrangement or date of birth. WAEC does not edit certificate so the only thing you can do is to swear an affidavit of correction to back it up. You just need to submit or upload the affidavit with the certificate at any instance when WAEC cert is demanded.
2. If the error, name arrangement or date of birth is on JAMB, you have to apply for correction of data. Firstly, you'll make payment for correction online. Print out JAMB indemnity form, go to the nearest court to swear affidavit. Fill the indemnity form and take it alongside the affidavit to the nearest JAMB office to you and complete the change. This change does not reflect immediately but eventually would.
3. If the error is noticed on the Birth Certificate. Simply do another birth cert or swear an affidavit of age declaration instead if doing another birth cert is impossible. I remember the error I had then fell in this category and what I did was do another Birth cert and that was all.

4. O level Certificate/Statement of Result

NB: WAEC Certificate is superior to Statement of Result. You're to bring O level cert if at the time of registration, your O level cert is due to be ready but if the case is, on getting to your school, the O level Certificate has not yet been issued or released, then you can request for Statement of Result.

Student who wrote WAEC exams 2019 and below should have their WAEC Certificate ready by now while those who wrote NECO 2018 and below should have theirs ready as well.

Students who are using 2020 O level and some in 2019 may not have had their Certificate ready from the school. These are the ones that will be allowed to present statement of result.

O level cert is to be gotten at the school where you registered and wrote your O level exam provided it is WAEC MAY/JUNE or NECO JUN/JUL but if your exam category is WAEC or NECO NOV/DEC also known as GCE, your certificate is to be obtained from either WAEC or NECO office depending on which one you sat for.

If you get to WAEC or NECO office and your cert is not ready, you'll also be issued a statement of result, you'll will have to pay for it, so don't go there without holding cash.

Under no circumstance should a student of MAY/JUN or JUN/JULY category go to WAEC or NECO office to request for certificate. It won't be given to you. You're to go to the school where you registered for the examination.

NB: Be ready to spend to get that especially if you attended a private school 😭😭😂😂😂

5. Attestation Letter. 

This is the fifth most important document. Attestation letter is issued by a clergy (Imam/Pastor), lawyer, notable community leader or an authority in a registered and reputable organization.

It is the easiest to get but some still have issues getting it. Every year I offer temporal assistance as regards this. I would have love to drop a sample of this document but it contains important details of my clients which they would not love if exposed. I draft a sample of attestation letter. All I need from Candidates requesting for is their church or mosque details, their UTME details, and the clergy details. I draft the attestation letter using a temporal letter head which the students will print out and take to the clergy to sign

NB: it is not advisable for a student to attest his/herself as this is considered impersonation.

6. DE/A Level statement of Result.

This applies to student who gained admission using DE. Obtain the statement of result from the issuer of any of the mode of entry you used. 

7. Testimonial 

This is not compulsory but if you can, get it. It is to be obtained at the secondary school where you obtained your O level result. 

NB: Testimonial cannot be used as a substitute for Statement of Result or Attestation Letter.

8. Certificate of Origin. 

This is also not compulsory however if your admission is based on Catchment area, you may need to get it. Certificate of Origin can be gotten at your Local government area or the liaison office of your LGA in any state. For now, there is no way to check your admission category so I'll advise you to get if ready if you can.
