List of Universities with Unaccredited Programmes

The National Universities Commission (NUC) has the statutory
mandate to accredit academic programmes in all Nigeria Universities. Pursuant
to this mandate and consonance with the provision of the current Government
approved guidelines, initial accreditation of a new programme is held after the
programme have run for two academic session following approval for the establishment
of the programme. Thereafter, the commission accredit the approved programmes
as and when due.
Accredited status of a programme is valid for a period of five
(5) years. All courses which have been earlier accredited also shall be
reviewed every five years.
Non accredited status has the following implications
- Immediate ban on student admission into the programme
- Certificate issued to students admitted into such programme after the ban on admission, will not be recognized. (Students who are currently enrolled on the programme will not be affected)
For a programme to be qualified or retain its
accreditation status in any Nigeria institution, a course must have;
- qualified faculty members,
- a good learning environment
- adequate teaching materials – equipment, books, and journals.
