WHAT NEXT AFTER ASUU'S BREAKFAST?

Now that ASUU's strike has been confirmed, it's a mixed feeling in the air. Some students are very happy about this development (Tech guys who need more time to focus on their portfolio build, entrepreneurs who need ample of time to build their business and skills, a few number of who students who have missed their parent and siblings), some aren't and some are just indifferent. That's to be expected though, different strokes for different folks. 

Some questions you might want to ask includes;

When will ASUU call off strike?

What conscious effort are the FG making to see to it that this industrial action doesn't last longer than necessary? 

Well, I don't have much of an answer to that as you must have known that the issue between ASUU and FG have been lingering for a while. It's just so unfortunate that the great Nigerian students are the grasses that must suffer when these Elephants are at it fighting each other. Last night in a press release, the FG through the ministry of Education have announced that they are ready to meet ASUU's demand and bring an end to the strike. However, ASUU is bent on seeing results. not just some random press release. While all these last, you've got to get something else doing with your time. 

The main question you've got to ask yourself is WHAT NEXT?  it doesn't matter what category you fall, no one really cares, and definitely the FG and ASUU aren't concerned about your feelings, you could rant, catch cruise or do whatever you like with the matter on ground. I trust you do know that whatever you do or you're planning to do will definitely not pull a strand of hair from the Elephants at war. But I do know of things you can indulge yourself in and come out of this strike better. Is it going to be the same cliche "read your academic books, read ahead of the next semester?" Definitely not. 

You wonder why we aren't going to be talking about that?  You're a student right? and definitely studying should be a perpetual thing for you, so let's not dive into that.

Now that ASUU's annual festival has just started, are you really going to spend your time seeing movies, wasting a bulk of your inadequate time online chatting and gaining nothing?  "No be me go tell una wetin you go do" but I'm  certain someone  sane wouldn't indulge in too much frivolities.  No one is condemning that, we all do need breaks for relaxation and renewal of our minds and strength, but to what end and gain?

YOU HAVE A SKILL ALREADY?  

Then you should  focus more on horning your skills more, because trust me, you don't know it all. Work more on promoting your brand, we're in a digital world, there are lot of ways to push your brand out there to the world, how many social media accounts do you have? To what level are you promoting your brand on your socials? If you have been doing that, then do more, if you've got it, flaunt it. 

Invest your time in building that Reputation more, use your socials to your advantage not to your detriment, Get connected well, FOLLOW WHO KNOW ROAD. Just keep building your skill and brand more.

YOU  DON'T  HAVE A SKILL YET?  

This industrial action should be blessing in disguise  for you then, No one is advising you to embark on a white elephant project really, skills aren't limited to fashion designing, make ups and the likes.  I'm sure you know they're a lot of skills you could learn remotely. They're a lot of skills out there you can learn within a month, you can sign up for courses on online learning platforms like Udemy, Coursera etc., in this contemporary world. You could venture into the world of  Tech, Content writing, Cryptocurrency, Forex trading and the likes. As Reno Omokiri advised 

It's not time to relax, but time to learn, unlearn and relearn.

As Marcus Struop iterated,  

Excuses will always be there for you, but opportunity won't. 

You might say you don't have the money to learn that skill now, because Truth be told some of these skills require you paying, but to what end are you stacking up knowledge on your preferred choice of skill, how many books have you read on it? To what level have you enquired about that skill?  I hope you know that;
